Total News – Atlanta, GA 10/04/2018. US stock brokerage giant TD Ameritrade Holding Corp has invested in a new cryptocurrency exchange ErisX.

TD Ameritrade clients can already trade bitcoin futures over the CBOE Futures Exchange. ErisX will initially allow trading in bitcoin, bitcoin cash, ethereum and litecoin. The new exchange will also allow clients to potentially trade other cryptocurrency futures.

"We wanted to find a platform that would be fully regulated, and something that has that capital markets feel.", J.B. Mackenzie, TD Ameritrade's managing director of futures and foreign exchange said on an interview with CNBC

TD Ameritrade executive vice president of trading and education Steve Quirk told Bloomberg that "our retail clients are seeking to access and trade digital currency products in the same way they do with traditional capital markets – through a legitimate, regulated and transparent exchange."

ErisX is in the process of self-certifying its futures contracts with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

The exchange, built by derivatives market provider Eris Exchange, is also backed by DRW Holdings and Virtu Financial.
